Common questions

What hands-free features does the Jitterbug Flip2 offer?

The Jitterbug Flip2 offers a 3.5mm headset jack and Bluetooth® connectivity for hands-free use. It also features Amazon Alexa, allowing you to use your voice to make calls, send texts, check the weather, and more.

What features does Jitterbug Flip2 have for those with visual impairments?

The Jitterbug Flip2 has a large, bright color screen with large, easy-to-read text that can be adjusted to larger sizes if needed for the easy list-based menu. Or for even easier reading, the Large View menu setting shows a single item at a time with a large icon and extra-large text.

The backlit keypad with big buttons makes dialing simple in any lighting condition.

There’s also a read-out feature that speaks menu options aloud to help you navigate the phone.

How do I lock the volume levels?

Go to Settings > Volumes & Sounds > Volumes > Lock Buttons. This locks the side buttons so your volume stays at your preferred level.

How do I download my phone’s photos to my computer?

You can easily download photos from your Jitterbug phone by connecting it to your computer with the included USB cable.

  • Plug the USB cable into the port on the side of your phone (not the charging dock).
  • Connect the other end to your computer.

Once connected, your computer will recognize the phone like a USB drive, allowing you to view and download your photos.

For help accessing files, refer to your computer’s user guide or operating system instructions. This feature requires Windows XP or greater, and Mac OSX 10.8 or greater.

How do I add or change names or numbers to my contacts?

You have several convenient options for managing your contacts:

  • On your phone: You can manage your contacts directly on your Jitterbug. Please refer to the user guide for step-by-step instructions.
  • With help from Lively operators: Our friendly operators are available 24/7 to update your contacts for you. Simply dial ‘0’ on your Jitterbug.
  • Online via My Account: Register for My Account to manage your contacts yourself, or have someone you trust help you. Any updates made online will automatically sync to your phone within minutes.

How do I ask Alexa a question on the Jitterbug Flip2?

There are two ways to use Alexa, depending on your setup:

  • If you selected "Just Ask Alexa" in your Alexa setup:  Simply flip the phone open and say "Alexa," followed by your question.
  • If you selected "Choose From Menu" in your Alexa setup:  Flip the phone open, scroll to "Amazon Alexa" on the menu, press "OK", then say "Alexa," followed by your question.

For phone-related commands – like making calls or sending texts -- say "Alexa, ask Lively" followed by your request.

What happens if I don’t have the Urgent Response service and I press the Urgent Response button?

If you do not have Urgent Response service the Urgent Response button will be disabled. In an emergency, dial 9-1-1.

What are Wireless Emergency Alerts?

Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEAs) and the Emergency Alert System allows consumers who own compatible mobile devices to receive geographically targeted, free text-like messages alerting them of imminent threats to safety or missing person alerts in their area (i.e., AMBER Alerts).

WEAs only cover critical emergency situations. Consumers can receive four types of alerts:

  • National Alerts issued by the President of the United States or the Administrator of FEMA;
  • Imminent Threat alerts involving imminent threats to safety or life;
  • AMBER Alerts about missing children; and
  • Public Safety Messages conveying recommendations for saving lives and property.

WEAs are broadcast to the geographic area affected by an emergency. If you receive the alert, it is because you are located in a geographic area that is impacted by the alert.

To receive a WEA, your phone must be WEA-capable, switched on, not on "airplane mode," and in the vicinity of and receiving service from a cell tower of a wireless carrier that participates in WEA.

Adjusting your alert settings

WEA alerts don't cost any money, and you can adjust the alerts you get in your phone's settings. The FCC prohibits consumers from blocking national alerts. Therefore, while you can adjust your alert preferences, you will still receive nation-wide alerts.
